The rear fogger just stopped working. The switch lights up when turned on. I get no power to the grid itself using a test light. Replaced the relay in the fuse box under the hood. Is there another fuse or relay somewhere else in this system? I viewed a U-Tube video showing in the passenger side kick panel, the wire connectors get fried where they plug into each other. Did anyone else have this experience? Help.

Have you thought about taking your Impala to your mechanic or to your local Chevrolet dealer to have the problem checked out?

Will probably have to go to my mechanic. Just wanted to do the easier things first. Hate to have to pay $70+ per hour to have someone change a relay or fuse. Did talk to a Chevrolet Dealer Service Manager today. He said that this is a common problem for this generation body style. He told me it sually takes about two hours to fix.

Back to my original question, did anyone have the same problem with their defogger? Is there another relay or fuse I am missing?

Mr. Dog, thanks for the web site link. I did try the suggested tests, but still no luck.

I think that it might be time to take your car to either your mechanic or to your Chevrolet dealer.

I finally got the time to do some looking where I suspected the problem to be. From what I was told, this generation Impala has a problem with too much resistance when the rear defogger is used. The weakest point in the system is the male - female wire connector behind the passenger side kick panel. On closer inspection, both wire connections were toasted. The two wires were connverted to one #8 wire - eliminating the quick connector for the defogger only. Hopefully, this is the end of the problem. No expensive mechanics hands or tools were harmed to achieve this fix.

And your wallet wasn't harmed, either. dance
