Does anyone have any leads on where one could obtain parts for a Carter fuel filter. Mainly gasket and element.

Thanks,

I have been very surprised on more than one occasion when looking for parts like this. Oil filter elements, torsion bar rubber kits, ignition parts, brake parts, 6V light bulbs for instrumentation and headlights, ect all available at the local car parts store. I bet your fuel filter parts would also be available. I still find it hard to believe that you can walk into these places and find parts for a '48 Chevrolet either off the shelf or a short day away from the warehouse, but there you go. Bowtie

OH, 1 more thing, don't go to the "big box" auto parts store, go to the store that's family owned, and has been in town for 50 years. It's been my experience that these big box places will help you if you are working on a late model small block - parts that they will sell a million of/month, but they don't have time for you if you fall out of the norm. (A 55-60 year old part request qualifies as falling out of the norm) The small places want to help, and know the business better than the high school kid at the big box place. If the part's out there and available, the small family owned store will help you find it. You are going to be surprised at what's out there and available. You should also know that while the GM parts book as published in the 40s is an excellent reference, most of those part numbers are obsolete against current inventory. Bowtie

Hi guys I found one at NAPA. Its not the stone type filter, it is cardboard type but height will work in my fuel filter bowl. If anyone is interested the NAPA P/N is 3943.

Thanks,
