VCCA Home Forums TECHNICAL - 1945 AND EARLIER 1929-1932 1931 sedan window channels

The felt is bad in all of my six windows. Looking closely, the rear quarter windows have steel channels with felt, but my doors have what looks like a repro channel made of rubber with felt inside. Can anyone help me with what to order? The Filling Station catalog is a little confusing.

FS also has a weather strip that it says attaches to the back side of the door at the window opening bottom, and seals against the outside surface of the glass. My car has nothing like this. Was that original? How does it curve at the back of the glass where the opening curves upward (rear quarter windows)? Anyone know of any pictures of what the window seals should look like?

FS also sells a glass rattle eliminating roller. Where does that go? My glass rattles within the channels whenever I drive anywhere. But then again, the felt is old and worn.

Why don't you contact the Filling Station and have them give you the exact details about the various products in question?

I called them today and the rep pointed me in the direction of a tech article on their web site. It details the various options for the weatherstripping on the doors. I still have a question though. If the weatherstrip 70-79 or 70-75 (Filling Station product #s) come in straight stock to attach to the bottom window channels, how do you protect the body panels from having water enter where the body panel metal curves upward. I would think this is a huge hole for rainwater to enter the body panels if you don't curve the weatherstrip up. I need some help from other 31 owners. I can post pictures if that will help.
