Searching for documentation on what the correct torque spec would be for tightening the wire wheel lug nuts on a 1935 Chevy Standard.

Anybody know?

Thanks

I don't know if you will find documentation for wheel when engine torque wasn't even critical then. I will say the wheel nut is the same nut that was used through the 70s before they went to metric. The stud is close to the same & it's a steel wheel. Most Camaro/Chevelle people are saying 65 lbs. for a 7/16 wheel stud & a steel wheel. I hope that helps...Joe

Can anyone tell me what the torque specifications are on the little screws that attach the rear-view mirror?

Grandpa said that lug nuts should be started and brought up snug with the wheel while the tire is still off the ground to allow the wheel to adjust (to center) onto the lugs. Then the wheel should be lowered to the ground enough to allow lug nuts to be tightened further. But not the most tight that they will go. Then the tire should be let off the jack completely and the final tightening should be done. If a lug nut makes the car move while tightening or if it makes a squeegeeing sound it is tight enough. Also be sure to tighten in proper order. Like across from one to the other. Not around in wheel in order of one, two, three. He also said that the hub cap was a safety device that was put over the lug nuts to catch any that came off. If you heard a lug nut rattling around in there it was time to stop and put it back on. Also, if a wheel seemed loose get out and check it!

doubt if there is a foot pounds torque wrench that will go that low but surely an INCH pounds unit will do..........how about 12-13 INCH POUNDS TORQUE for rear view mirror .
