It's me again...

I searched the forum but I was unable to find a link or information for transmission numbers.

Recently, I removed mine and it was full of water. I am about to start disassembling it, but wanted to read up a bit.

The numbers read: 590321, below that there is the Chevy bow tie and the number 6, and below that there is C28.

I am assuming the C28 means March 1928, but we all know about assuming.

If anyone has any information I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
David

590321 I think is a part number as I just checked on my 1928 LO Truck and it has the same number. My 1927 car is also a 3 speed and i think the exact same but it has a different number of 590279 on the case. So not really sure. The trans is pretty easy to dissemble and re assembles. The bearings, and bushings, gaskets and shafts are all available but the gears I think you will need to do some searching for.

Thank you.

I am looking for a machinist for the engine debacle and then I am going to tackle this matter. I just wanted to make sure I am researching and searching for the proper replacement parts.

Bluechevrolet490; Click on search at the top of this page. Then click on 1912-1928 and enter 590321 in the search block on the right. Scroll to the bottom and click on submit. You will get about 6 topics to view. There is some info in the January 2011 thread. Hope this helps.
