Hi, I am pondering what to do about the Electrolock on my "new" '29; no key, of course. I assume it has the ignition shorted somehow so I can't tinker and see if it will run until I address the Electrolock. My main question is: how do I proceed?

You have a few options. 1. Find a local locksmith that can pick the lock, take the cylinder out and then make a key from the code number on the lock cylinder. 2. Find a locksmith that can profile the lock and make a key. 3. Send to one of the people listed in the G&D that can work on the electrolock. That requires you remove the electrolock. Then you can install an insulated stud in the distributor and then wire it with a universal key switch.

Hopefully you can find a "locksmith" that even knows what an Electrolock is or one that can actually work on a lock cylinder. Many of them today have no clue as to what they are doing and if your "locksmith" gets out a power drill to remove the lock cylinder from your Electrolock to make a key....grab your Electrolock and run!
