My '38 has a roll-up blind for the rear window. I don't recall seeing it as a dealer-installed accessory in any of the documents I have.

It is very brittle, so I am not going to touch it until I have to. Last time I unrolled it was back in '77 when I was very young. No one else except my Dad knew it existed.

Is it a rare accessory, or was it common for most Chevys to have it back then?

The rear window roll-up shade was a long running standard equipment item in Deluxe sedans for many years. The 1938 Master Deluxe was the last year it was used.

If 1938 was the last year for the roll up blind for the rear window, did Chevrolet offer the fixed metal venetian blinds for the rear window in 1939? I know that the metal venetian blings were available for 1940.

Thanks to all for replying. I think I will just go to Walmart and get a brown one, cut it to size with a sawzall, and glue it in place to make it look new. Car show judges will not check it as I plan to have a vicious-looking Chihuahua sleeping back there.

I would bet you could remove it entirely and go to 50 car shows and no one would even notice including judges..
