Can anyone tell me the modern replacement color of the cream colored wheels that are shown on the blue 31 roadster that is pictured on the 'banner' on top of the VCCA chatter? It looks close to, but somehow more yellow than the cream medium that has been discussed earlier in this forum. I have seen several G&D pictures with the medium yellow color shown on the above roadster. (is it the 31 Model A Fxxx Tacoma cream?) I am looking to repainting the wheels on my 31 Phaeton, but the original 'cream medium' appears too pale for my preference. VCCA 18184

I'll check out the FS, I am overdue for sending them another order anyways. My 'slushfund' has finally recovered from the honeycomb radiator core purchase. After having the new core installed, my local radiator shop closed its doors..Jo

Checked the FS online catalog, and they do have the correct cream medium wheel color as you indicated. Super! I have two questions before calling in my order for paint, and other items ('modern' water pumps, etc): Will a full pint be sufficient to refinish 5 wheels, and, is the paint acrylic lacquer (something I can spray using my cheap gun and rub out), or is it some other paint that require a highly skilled craftsman. Thank you again. #18184

I painted my 6 wheels the same color this last summer and it took slighly more than 1 quart. I am no painter and painting wire wheels for me was very difficult. Sanding and rubbing out the hub is hard due to the spokes. Very difficult for me but again I am not a painter.

The easiest paint to use is a Base Coat and then Clear coat it with a good Clear. No rubbing out and will hold up better in the sun than Acrylic Enamel. Also less chance of runs and you don't have to put the Base Coat on "Wet".

Will a full pint be sufficient to refinish 5 wheels, No! You will need a least a quart.

Even with Base Coat/Clear Coat a Pint is not enough.

You might want to check out having them powder coated by a professional painter. Painting spoke wheels can be a real challenge.

I painted my wheels more that 10 years ago using spray cans after I had the wheels sandblasted. I primed the wheels in the sandblaster's parking lot immediately after blasting to avoid rust to form. The wheels turned out excellent and are holding up great. I would now like to change them into the correct color, but prefer using spray cans. I have tried to find out which car name and years that the PPG C6004K belongs to. I have tried all the paint reference pages such as autocolor library etc. to identify the PPG C6004K, but without success, 'no paintcode matches found'. I would like to order the paint in spraycans. Does Anyone know which car and years this paint belongs to so that I can get it ordered that way ? Help will be appreciated, #18184

Some specialty paint suppliers can custom mix and put it in spray cans but you had better be sitting down when you get the price.
