7 years ago I bought a late 80s car for a daily driver/winter beater that was advertised on having 110,000 miles,it had a few things replaced making me think the mileage was correct but since the interior looked to never had been used I am thinking it might had only 10,000 miles and no one knew it. After letting a now ex girlfiend drive it for 4 years with 45,000 hard miles and wrecked twice during that time and after 25 Ohio winters it now looks like it has 184.000 miles but runs too good to have that many miles so is there any way to verify mileage.

I do not know how many model years a CarFax report goes back, but mileage is listed on CarFax reports for such items as registrations or state inspections.

I see a lot of cars and trucks with over 200,000 miles and the interiors look like new. Depends on the material used and drive abuse. I often buy cars with around 100,000 miles becaue the twinke repairs have been made and the major components last 200,000 if taken care of.

Most state motor vehicle departments only keep track of mileage on vehicles for 10 years. After 10 years the mileage is not required to registration.

I probably should have done some research right after I bought it but it just popped up in my brain a few days ago,its definately not worth spending any money to find out since one more wreck and its done for. The drivetrain would have been pulled and the rest scrapped if it did not have a heated windshield which is great in Ohio winters, that option has spoiled me and I doubt I could ever find a cheap winter beater with it again.
