OK,, problem? I need a new trim tag on my 40.. somebody must have needed it more that I did.. That being said... I will have one made.. Easier said than done..
My question is, I have a 1940, Master Deluxe, 4 door. Black with Red pin stripe. The Style number should be??? 40-1019? no, that was a Special Deluxe, I think.. maybe a 40-1011? not sure what car that came off of.. ANYWAYS.. The books say it is a 40-1503, but I can't find that it was actually the "Style No" on the trim plate..
So, what do I put as the style number? What do I use as the Body number? (Car built in Buffalo) Paint is 274 Trim is 87.

I used to love to talk with 1940 Chevy hot rodders. They very often removed the trim tag or the entire firewall so that a 350 would fit in the 1940. I bought over the years 2 or 3 firewall trim tags for 1940. I think that they were all for coupes. I can check.

I only have firewall tags for coupes. I have an extra 40-1517 = Master Deluxe Business Coupe and 40-1027 = Special Deluxe 5 Passenger Coupe.
sorry

OK, I just bought a 4th 1940 Master Deluxe 4 door. My trim tag says, 40 1219. Really? what happened to 40 1519? I would add a photo of it, but I can't figure that out either...

If the body is a 1519 (Master Deluxe) the interior would have had a robe cord on the back of the front seat, two asist straps on the C pillar, door sill plates, and a dash ash tray. These items were missing on the Master 85. What is the trim number?

Is there any difference in the body of a Master 85, and a Master Deluxe? I can't see, find any difference.
Thanks,

Master 85 has an I beam front axle. The 85 has a stamped body line instead of the chrome moulding and the hood side vents are also stamped instead of chrome. I don't know of any other body differences

The chrome side trim is only on the special deluxe. In Canada there was no master deluxe series built in 1940

The trim # 86 is for a US Master 85 or Master Deluxe. The paint # is for A US car so it is not a Canadian car. There is no body difference betwqeen the two models other than what I mentioned in a previous post,(robe cord, etc).
