I decided to take off my passenger door armrest today to fix the chrome trim piece. Stuck my Phillips screwdriver into the front screw hole and hit solid metal??? Got a flashlight and looked in the hole, and, I'm looking at a 7/16 hex head. Some goober put the armrest on with a pair of 1/4 inch lag screws. Guess I'll never have to worry about it falling off the door.

Sometimes there's no telling what you'll find with cars of this vintage...! I recall thinking I should look under the back seat to see if there was anything left behind...Alas, it was spotless...No old pocket change, etc...Darn...lol

I had my car "covered" for the winter, only to come back and find moths had destroyed the headliner...Another friend had told me mice had set up home in his...He'd be driving along and look up to see mice starring down at him while he drove...lol

When I had mine torn apart Mice had gotten and ate a hole in the headliner above the sunvisor, and to my surprise when I raised the trunklid there was a 6ft long black snake skin left in the trunk. The next following Sat. went up to my building and started the car to keep the battery up and pulled the car out and raised the trunk only to find another snake skin,I had chills all over my body thinking it was prolly up above my head in the headliner, needless to say I ripped out the headliner.. No more snakes and mice... EEEEEEEEEKkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you on them snakes. I was at my dad's store one Summer, and, a lady asked me to check out her car because it was making a strange rattling noise. I walked up to her car in the parking lot - and- sure enough - it was making a rattling noise, and, it wasn't even running. I squatted down to look underneath, and, sitting right under the tranny pan was a coiled up Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. I about jumped out of my skin. I backed out of there, and, called the DNR. A guy with a hook and a burlap bag came and got the snake out from under the car. He was 4 feet long, and, as big around as my arm. Guess I'm real lucky he didn't strike at me.

Just a heads up - I heard a couple of years ago that some guys here tearing old seats and headliner out of an antique car here got into a bunch of Brown Recluse Spiders, got bit, and all of them ended up in the hospital. Please watch for these critters too.
