What is the recommended replacement fluid for Gen. GM fluid for single and double acting shocks? All the manual says is that it is a mineral oil based fluid. Pure mineral oil perhaps? Thanks,
Walt

You could use motor oil if you wished....Just that fork oil, jack oil,ATF and PS fluid are more equal in viscosity to shock fluid.
#30 motor oil would give you a nice firm ride - especially in cold weather....#90 gear oil makes the front end as stiff as a board (experiance) :p

For those of you who might be worried that a VCCA judge will do a chemical analysis of your shock oil, I have almost 5 gallons of Delco Hydraulic Shock Absorber Oil. Don't risk losing points on aftermarket oil. Get the real stuff from me.

Motorcycle fork oil is very good for delco shocks as it comes in different weights like motor oil and you can tune your ride it also has an anti foaming agent that jack oil does not have. And yes I used 90 gear in my 40 chevy coupe front end in 1954 when I was in high school to keep from getting sea sick from shock rock, and it stayed in the last year of school and didn't leak.Gene is right about the ride after fifty years I still remember it.
