How can you tell the difference between a 216/235 intake manifold. I have both manifolds sitting in my garage at home, but I forget which one came off of the 235. Both manifolds look the same. They both have a small lip where it looks like a ring would go mounted next to the head. How can I tell which one belongs on my 235?
TIA

Depends on what year 235 you have. The 1941-49 235 used the same intake and exhaust as a 216. The 1950 216 continued to use that same intake thru 1953. The 1950 and up 235 intake has larger ports, the inlet passage (where the head to manifold rings fit) is 1/8" larger and the carb. mounting studs are 2 11/16" center to center on the 216 and 2 15/16" on the 235.The 216 manifold runners were D shaped (cross section) and the 235 round. If all this fails the casting # on the 216 is 3835395 and the 235 is 3835590

Many of us have said it before, but Chev Gene really is "The Man," huh????
His posts are really helpful, interesting, informative and all that good stuff. "Amazing" would be a good word also. It's amazing how the hell anybody can know all that???
Thanks for helping sooooo many of us, Gene.

where does gene get this knowledge from? Does he read it from somewhere or does he have every model of chev made in his yard and he just goes out with his tape measure when a problem arises?
in any case...you are "the man" without doubt!

Gene spent his entire working life working in a Chevrolet dealership as did his father before him. He has reference material and a great brain. If you talk with him in person he is just one of the nicest fellows you will ever meet. He might also keep you laughing. When Gene tells you something you can take it to the bank. One of the greatest VCCA members.

And Im LUCKY enough to have him in my Local Chapter!!! I met him when I was working in a dealership. He was selling tools part time, as I think he still does? He saw me reading a copy of the G&D. If it were not for Gene, I dont think I would have ever joined a local chapter. He has made me, my wife, and daughter feel very welcome. His guidence, and knowledge is a big reason my 47 is back on the road today!!!
Thanks GENE!!!

If I were Gene, I would have such a big head by now, I'd just go off and start "Gene's Vintage Chevrolet Club of America". I would be so impressed with myself, I wouldn't have time to fool with the rest of us. Lucky for us, I'm not him....er uh something like that. Mike

I'm glad to see so many other members that apprecite Gene Schneider. I have complimented him several times on the chat. One more time won't be too many. Thanks Gene for all you have done for me while restoring my '41. I invited Gene to stop by Sullivan last year on his way home from Branson so I could personally thank him for his help and buy him a cup of coffee (or more). He was unable to stop but the invitation still stands Gene. Someone mentioned we should do something special for Gene. We surely have some good organizers in our group. How about someone getting something together. I'll do anything I can to help. Gene deserves anything and everything we can do for him. To repeat one of the other chats "He is the Greatest" and is so willing to help fellow members. There are several other members that are very knowledgable about Chevrolets and contribute a lot to our chat line. We appreciate everyone that departs information to the VCCA Chat. We also appreciate the members that make this chat possible. I check the chat everytime I get on the computer. Always something worthwhile. Thanks again JIM

Gene is truly "One of a kind" he has helped no telling how many Old Chevrolet owners here and on other sites on the web. What truly makes him unique is he seldom passes up an opportunity to stop, do his research, and then give such a good accounting of his knowledge. Thanks Gene, for being such a good friend to all of us puzzled old Chevrolet fans!

One way to meet Gene is to attend the next anniversary meet in Grand Junction. Since I've talked to him at many of these meets in the past, I think he will be there... Today is a good day to make your reservations at the meet hotel....They just opened reservations for the club....

Gene, isn't it time for you and your Chevys to come to Florida? We could use you down here; plus sunshine, no snow, you can drive your old Chevys year around, etc.
