If I understand correctly, the 28 intake is different then the earlier ones. How do I tell the difference? Is it the ID of the tubes?
Thanks

as far as I know they are the same as prior years short drop the check valve might be different

The inside diameter of the 1928 was larger. In 28 they went to larger valves and I think that the carb was larger also. The inside of the manifold is 1" up thru 1927 and then 1 1/8" for the 28. If the manifolds are on an engine the outside of the tubes will measure about 1 1/8' for the early ones and 1 3/16" for the 28.

From the info above, if it has the 2 port exhaust then it would or should have the larger valves and intake. If I read the date code on my head right it's Nov. of 27 with duel exhaust and larger valves.
I thought the intake was larger but was not sure, thank you. This will be a help.
