I have one that is in rather good condition and took it to the chrome shop and got a bid of $1,380 to restore it and the shell (small trim section that it fits in). Let me know what you think. I doubt that there are any NOS ones out there and I doubt that they are in reproduction so where do I go from here? By the way, I do a lot of work with the chrome shop and they have always been fair with me so I expect that this is a reasonable bit?

I take it that the grill is for a 1935 standard series ???

The grill insert is made reproduction in stainless steel by a company in Houston texas.

HARRIS ENGINEERED REPRODUCTIONS 1-713-956-1122.....FAX--713-956-8503...
www.HERGRILLES.COM
email ... grilles@hotmail.com

INFO TAKEN FROM FEB 2002 STREET RODDER MAGAZINE.

The center strip is made repo in stainless same guy.

The crank hole cover is made repo by I & I reproductions in California or filling station

the grill emblem is also made repo by I & I repo or filling station.

The grill trim ring your going to have to bite the bullet on and get it replated at $200---500 depending on original condition.

Be careful with Harris Engineering. A quick search of the Internet shows they are having delivery issues and may not be in business anymore.

Sent HER GRILLS an email and left a message on the telephone.

If HER has retired or gone out of business, this is definitely bad news as he was the only person offering the CORRECT stainless steel grill mesh along with the center grill molding.

The price of these now is going to skyrocket in price. Repairing an original is very difficult to almost impossible at best, and it will be extremely costly. Producing the tooling to produce this in a stamping of the pattern , is cost prohibitive. Anything any good appearing on ebay will start selling for $600 +.

Say BYE BYE to $300 inserts

I think Dick Moffitt in Springfield OH 1-937-325-7861 might have some in stock ????

Stainless Bitz in Caloundra Queensland Australia also make an exellent repro grill mesh. It comes as a rectangle and has to be cut to shape but it is big enough to make one for the masters as well. They also make the centre strip. I have used two of them with pleasing results. Cost is around $350 Australian.

I googled " stainless bitz qld " and last post there from around 2009 was he was losing $$$ like crazy and the end of the business was near.

I saw nothing to indicate a 33--35 Chevrolet grill mesh.

Not in USA, am in Canada, and our $$$ is about 17 cents less than usa and your dollar is much less than that.

Do you have a picture of the part he makes and a web site address. Or MORE IMPORTANTLY an email address to contact them ?

Didnt realise they were that big. The good news is that they can make the mesh longer to suit the Master cars as well. Just a tip on repairing the rusted bottom trim on these cars. The side of the trim on a 1935 Master is the same profile as the bottom of a 34-35 Standard and 34 Master so if you have a beyond repair 35 Master trim it can be used as patches to repair these models.

1933 , 1934-1935 standard parts on ebay are always in high demand and command good prices. Simply put, the steel 33-34 fords are all taken and people are looking for nice alternatives, and that makes the steel 33-35 chevys a demand item. Even tho the master 34 outsold the standard series 5---1, the standard is much more popular.

Those grill insert meshes for size and fit are as follows : .........1933 standard only, 1933 master only, 1934 master only, 1934-1935 standard only, believe 1935-36 master are same ? Each is a different width and length. HER GRILLES in texas had all the patterns.

If they are gone out of business that's a massive blow to 33-36 chevy owners.

The shipping costs from Australia to north America.......Canada & USA is most likely $150--200 and that hurts. But you guys get whacked all the time bringing stuff in from USA then getting hit with V A T taxes.

Mike,
I clicked on your link to the Texas company and could find no reference to the early Chevy grille screen.
BTW '35 and ''36 Master grilles have nothing in common. '35s, Master and Standard, are the last of the passenger cars to use the screen.

I really don't pay much attention to the 35 master -36 master standard cars. I know the 35 master uses the same grill mesh as 33--35 chevys and its its own size.

My primary interest is the 1934-1935 standard series

I am thinking that HER GRILLs is out of business now.

Originally there was a guy in penn who produced them back in 72 then he ended up collapsing in his driveway from overwork trying to fill orders from his hemmings motor news ads. I got my first one from him back in 72. Still in my 35 coupe to this day. He went out of business long ago, don't know what happened to him.
