No doubt my od 48 was originally a 6 volt system but it is now a 12 volt system...my question is that i need an original chev radio for my stylemaster but would it actually work or would i need to see an auto electrician to get it to work....sorry if this has been brought up before but there are a lot of previous threads and i couldnt find one mentioning this.....
(i'll slip a modern cd/rdio under the dash somewhere for convenience)

I recommend you return the car to 6-volts. There are thousands of 6-volt cars still running and fault free. If you insist on the 12-volt, the radio can be restored as a 12-volt unit. This usually adds about $60-75 to the restoration. The use of a dropping resistor is NOT recommended.
