I have to replace the oil line (1399637) from the engine to the oil gauge. Parts book has it as 1/8" O.D. at 56 7/8" required. Where can I get the fittings for the pipe? Can I re-use the fittings from the pipe I have now?
Thanks,

Einar

I believe the line uses compression fittings and if so all but the sleeve can be reused. An auto parts store or good hardware store should have the sleeves.

You can get the fittings at the auto parts store.

Thanks, Pat, Steve and JD. First I will see if I can reuse the extra fittings I have, but still I'll look for the parts locally. With Pat's help I have a few sources to follow up. The pipe cracked right at fitting by the gauge as I was putting on - it happens.

I used the Farmer Brown method and cut the old line a few inches from the fitting, then silver-soldered a 1/8" copper line to the old one. Easy from there to fit the line up to my engine using standard parts. Not for the purest but is ok with me.

Ron,

Those are common auto parts store and HVAC fittings. I'm not sure I'd trust that repair.

With age the copper gets work hardened and will keep breaking. I would also get new new fittings, at least the compression sleeves so you can be assured your not going to have an oily mess.

Ok, you guys talked me into doing it the right way. Where do I get 1/8" steel tubing?

I believe the original line was COPPER and available as suggested above from an automotive parts distributor or a good hardware store.

You could also go to a plumbing or refrigeration shop and get a piece of copper tubing the right side also.
