I'm currently rebuilding the running boards on my 1925 Chevy. I need to know if the two bolts going through the rear running board frame bracket are are exposed or if they are covered by the rubber matting material on the running board itself.

They appear to be not covered by the rubber mat on a picture I have.

I have seen both. However, in my review of all factory photos I can see no visible bolt heads. I used elevator bolts on the two rear brackets and covered them with the mat. I think it looks correct. However, Im sure you will get diffing opinions here from some of the more knowledgeable.

Thanks guys for your input. I don't know which way I'll do it yet but I like the idea of using elevator bolts instead of the carriage bolts.

Ken, I'm going to try to make new ones. I have enough wood on the running boards for patterns.

Ken, I found that Lowes sells the correct small ribbed pattern rubber. I bought some years ago and I plan on using it.
