Is this what you want?

[Linked Image from i1115.photobucket.com] Back side of 1931 (All), 1932 (truck) horn

[Linked Image from i1115.photobucket.com] Please excuse the non-original features. Front side of 1931 (All) horn. Please ignore the black painted bolt heads (not correct) and Klaxon 16 stamped in the middle (not correct should be plain disc) The color of the vibrator disc is a little lighter due to the added light necessary to take the photo. Some exports and 1931-32 trucks had a black front cover instead of chrome plated.

I am not sure what you are referring to with

.
If you are referring to the chrome cover and the painted vibrator plate under it, I have disassembled probably 30 '31 horns and never found one that had the parts originally painted black. Now those style horns were used on a number of vehicles and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The mounts are different than those on the Chevrolet horns. The Klaxon 16 front cover was used on aftermarket horns. Plymouth used one with a sailing ship.

The mount is not very clear in the photo of the back. Maybe I can take a photo of one that is not mounted that will more clearly show the correct mounting bracket.

There's one more plate in mine it's right above the vibrator plate and under the chrome cover it's beveled?

All the attaching arms are held to the horn back with a crimp and washer. I have horn with several different attaching arms. The Chevrolet one used an arm with reinforcing bends on the edges of the 90 deg. section.

There are two different parts to the vibrator. One is a rippled plate with spot welded center disc that has a pin on the back side and threaded for a stud to attach a tapered aluminum plate. It is this plate that is painted the yellowish drab color. The rippled plate is originally tin plated like a food can.

Not a Chev question but on the same horn discussed here. I have a pancake horn with a "W" stamped in the chrome front, might be Willet horn. Curious if it is supposed work on 12v, mine just clicks when 12v is applied. It also has no mounting bracket, can a mounting bracket be bought or fabricated?

Thanks for any info you can provide,

Tim

If it is a Delco remy horn the same as pictured it will have 6 volts stamped into the centre rear washer(or otherwise).
Depending on where you want to mount it on your car, a curved bracket with another 90 degree bend was used on some of these horns, Picking up on the circumference bolts.

The same model pancake horn was used on motorcycles, Plymouth and maybe a few other makes. They differ from the '31 Chevy horn in the attaching bracket. BTW the '32 trucks used the same horn as '31.
