It was down for me and from an email I got for others too. For me it acted a lot like the previous outage where the hosting company had no one on duty over the weekend to work the issue. The one difference for me was I ping during the last outage got a normal return where yesterday I got no returns, total data loss.

I could not get on Saturday or Sunday. There were other sites I could not get on Saturday morning, but I could on Sunday morning.

When issues like this occur, it would be good to know it was a VCCA problem, and not a problem on our side of the fence.
If an outage is anticipated or expected to occur, that info would be welcome, as well.

Over the this past weekend we experienced approximately a 20 hour
outage of our web site and Chat site. I was online with the hosting
company for about half that time. Eventually they reported to me
that our "container" was stopped due to excessive bandwidth usage. A
couple of hours later they reported that "The VPS had been reset and
was turned on again." Note: A VPS is where multiple people (~100+
share a common server, but each with a unique identity).
This morning I spent another hour plus, on the phone and online with
the company. They explained that the VPS that we shared had been
"compromised" and someone else took all of the bandwidth from us. So
the company stopped the entire server. It has been rectified now and
we are back up and running with the exception of that one account.
As retribution, our Hosting Company offered to credit us with $75 (approx one month's payment).

The digital world has changed rapidly over the past couple of years, and this probably won't be the last time that we experience an issue due to electronic attacks or rogue activities.

Wow, I thought maybe it was just me ...

at least they did offer something for the trouble.

Thanks for letting us know, Bill. When I can't get on always makes me wonder if it's "computer idiot" ME...or the 'system.'
I'm sure we all feel you're doing WAY ABOVE the norm job for us and chat. YOU are the best and we sure appreciate your efforts.

For clarification -- this outage was different from any that we've experience in the past 3 or 4 years.... BOTH our web server AND our database servers were offline. I was looking at adding a "Status" page on our web server ( http://vcca.org) to give you future status if we have problems.... but in this case, it wouldn't have done any good - since BOTH services were down for the entire 20 hours. I'm always open to other ideas if you have 'em.
