Hello All,
Looking at the Filling Station's list of Master Parts Books/CD's and am wondering which item would be most helpful when researching and restoring parts for my 1931 Chevy Coach. FS lists three books and three CD's. All six start at 1929. The books ending years are 1932. 1942. 1950. The CD's ending years are 1957. 1960. 1961. Two of the books are more expensive then the CD's, making the CD's more desirable in that regard. If I'm wanting to concentrate on the parts that relate mostly to 1931 or retrofit to 1931, which ending year Master Parts is recommended?

I have both.....I usually look up stuff in the book and then reference the CD and print out what I need and take it into the garage where greasy fingers etc. really end up buggering the pages up.....If I had a choice, I would use the CDs and print what I needed. Beside...

The most complete listing of parts are in the book(s) dated the same year as the vehicle or maybe a year later. For interchange or multiple year applications a book 5-10 years later will work. I have the parts books and no CDs so am not qualified to comment on which is best. If necessary I scan the page or photo it and then print. If I had a computer in the shop I might use the CD as searching can be faster at times. There reason I say "at times" is that I don't always know the name of the part so have to look at a diagram or several listings in the index.

The best parts book to go with is the August 1st edition of the 1929-32 Master Parts Price List. It will have just about everything that you will need.

I don't use CD's...only parts books. When I want to look up a part I want to do it quickly and I can do so with a parts book at hand in my shop. With a CD it is slower because I have to leave my shop, come into the house, turn on the computer, insert the CD an etc.
