This is a mercy post! I'm begging for mercy. What is the method to remove the trunk latch on my 48 Aero? I don't have the key, and I dont know if the lock is even in the locked position. I do have access to the trunk, and removed the four screwss that hold the assembly captive. But from there I have hit a stopping point. Any instruction would be appreciated.

Remove the nut on the end of the handle from the inside-then remove the handle from the outside...insert a proper size screw driver into the hole that the handle shaft WAS in and turn clockwise (from the outside)...the key number will be stamped on the handle shaft-will be a number between 8000 and 9200.If its the original handle and lock cylinder the trunk key is the ame as the door/ignition key...one key fit all locations beginning in 1948.
