That depends on what your doing with the car, I have power steering and its nice for parking but the way the 69 Corvette body was designed you actually get the front end lifted when driving over 60 miles an hour. I tend to over steer with power steering. If your running a small block your lift will even be more. They put the big blocks in the for weight and added a small air scoop under the front bumper to help keep the front down. If your doing the keep it original plan than I would not add power steering. If not I suggest finding one and driving it before you make the change.

Yes its best to keep it original, mine has all the factory options offered with the 427. Its a savior car all original from the day it was built and only 48,000 miles on it. I really wanted to put a luggage rack on the back, I check to see if it was an option because a lot of vets have one. I found out it was not a factory option until 1972. The dealer's made them an option so because it was not a factory option I won't put one on. I have the original purchase contract including the options and just cant bare to make that kind of a change, to me it would destroy the history. My Shelby Daytona 500 Mags were a dealer option but they did come with the car when new so I can keep them.
