I have a reference this is for 52-54 Chevys and Pontiacs... looking to confirm or deny. Mopar used a very similar setup these same years. Have to love the original canvas bag that came with the jack when I found it last month...!

Chevrolet jacks never came in a bag.
The 1949-1954 jack post was square or retangular and slipped in the a like sized opening in the base of the jack.

Thanks for the info about the bag cover..! Just found another reference from a Hershey vendor saying this came out of a 49 Mercury. Will this unknown misfit jack ever find it's way home........?
