Why is it that some 48s "T" bar on the front of the grill has a seperate propeller nut, and some are just molded into the bar to look like one?
I have noticed alot of 47s have them on them, as did mine when I bought it. I thought it was a 48 till I saw the data plate. Are these after market Items???

The "moulded in" prop T bar is an aftermarket part......It was aimed at '47 owners that wanted to "up date" their cars as well as replacements for damaged 1948's.

I have heard for many years that there were a lot of 47's sold as 48's at Chevrolet Dealers because of the similar appearances. Also many Dealers installed the "T Bar" to give the appearance of 48's. Some how the dealers were caught doing this. Has anyone else ever heard this? Fleatmaster 47, Could yours have been one of these?

Never heard of it.There are many more differences + the title would still read 1947.

The 1948 grille lower moulding had a hole in the center for the T bar lower bolt. All replacement grilles sold after 1949 had the hole so some 1947's may be seen with the hole and no T bar...did indicate the center of the grille was replaced due to collision

The after market senario is what I figured. 47 buyers trying to look like a new 48. There are too many other differences in the two. i.e. The hood badges are different, the window mouldings are around each window in a 47, in 48 it was one large moulding around all the windows. The belt moulding is also wider on a 48. The "chevrolet" on the front of the grill was red on a 48, and black on a 47. Also Gene is right as usual about the titles....
