Painted my motor and all parts that are supposed to be the blue/gray. I purchased the Eastwood Chevy gray and the catalyst. While I am no painter my good buddy is and I got some tips from him before I began. I had wired wheeled all the parts and cleaned them with lacquer thinner to remove any grease or oil. I used a cheap Harbor Freight gravity gun designed for hobby painting ($12) The paint mixes 4 to 1 with the catalyst and that's easy. It does say in the directions that you can use a reducer to thin that I had and could of used but in my garage tonight the temp was about 64d and the paint consistency seemed really good and it flowed off the mixing stick in a stream till the very end, then it was just a few drips. My buddy told me if it dripped off with a fair amount of paint still on the stick then it would be too thick. I felt it wasn't so didn't use the reducer. The reducer I had was also designed for cooler temps so if I had used it it would help with the drying time but of course the catalyst does too.

The paint sprays pretty light out of the HF hobby gun and that is what you want. You don't want the paint to be real wet and you cover everything with a light coat first. I was told to put the second coat on when I could leave a finger print in the paint (on a piece of masking tape on the motor) but not wipe the paint off if I tried. I continued making light coats moving from all the parts to the motor and back again starting with the parts painted first. I did have the motor lifted first and painted the whole pan completely before painting the from the pan up and bell housing.

Once I was satisfied with the pan I lowered it back on the cart and blocks then proceeded to commence with painting the upper block. When the can was first opened I was a little worried that it was more like battleship gray then the blue gray it was supposed to be. After a good mixing with a paint stick the blue starting coming in but it still looked a little light. Like any paint, it does dry darker than it goes on.

I can say I'm happy with how the paint applied, how well it covers with many light coats, how applied that way I got not one run, it's shine, and yes, it's color. While I don't have another motor or can of FS paint to compare to, it does appear to be a definite blue/gray. I have posted pictures in the member's area for all to look and please give your opinions on the color. I know the lighting will play with the true color but it's the best I could do.

Looked at your Picts, and would have to say it looks REALLY good. I would not have any complaints.

I believe the paint that was on my motor was also a little darker/bluer. I know this is darker and bluer than my cousin's 50' Chev that is all original which is a much lighter gray. I do believe for the money, $50 vs. $150 and it's also a two part paint, that it's a very good option.
