Hello all;

New guy here from Fox Lake, IL. Just bought a 1938 Chevy Master Deluxe Trunk Back Sport Sedan. It is 80% done, working on the interior now. Seats are excellent but the headliner and carpet is old. The dome light does not function and I was wondering how to remove the lens to check the bulb. Don't want to break anything! Any advice? Still trying to figure out how to upload a photo on this forum.

Thanks, Brad

It is removed by prying off the chrome rim. If it hasn't been removrd in the last 50 years it may be more or less rusted on and will take some force to remove.
The dome light feed wire is hot all the time. The switch is in the ground wire and grounds the circuit to light the bulb. When you get the bulb out first tst it to see if it is good. Usually are. Frequent cause of not working is the bolb is not grounding well in the socket.
Can also test the center lug in the socket to make sure it is hot. wel2 wel2

With the MD your switch may be on the door pillar but the lens assembly should be removed the same way: <CLICK>
