I just received a curt and demeaning PM that has accused me of bullying and belittling others here on the Chat. Further, that I offered advice in the 216 Rebuild thread that was contrary to good advise from "one of our finest and knowledgeable members." And that such bullying and was not permitted here on the Chat.

Let me say that at no time have I ever intentionally bulled, belittled or shown disrespect to anyone. Of course, there may be times when a nerve may have been struck. As in the instant case, perhaps. I admit that I have, from time to time, done a little ribbing and kidding. I thought there was no harm in that. Maybe there is.

I didn't think that anyone who posts advice or information here on chatter was above being questioned, corrected or having further helpful information to the question (provided by the questioner) that would help him make a sound and economical decision. I guess we have do indeed have untouchables amongst us.

At times I have offered good sound advice and when I didn't know the answer to a question, admitted as much right up front. I would have preferred to continue to do that. Read on.

The PM I received made it quite clear - reading between the lines - that my input on Chatter was no further needed or wanted. I was threatened that higher intervention would take place if I continued to make "bullying or belittling" comments here on Chatter. No perceived bullying or belittling or disrespect for the tastes of other would be permitted because it clearly violated the rules. My friend' was included to make sure that I understood that I wasn't considered a friend.

I know when I've been asked to turn in my membership and simply fade away. That is not what I want but I cannot fight those who do not have my best interest at heart. The PM I received is tantamount to a request that I pack it in. I will comply.

This is a sad day for me. I have made many friends here and, I hope, more than enemies.

You all take care and remember that life is short. Stop and smell the roses and lighten up some. Try to discern what is meant as humor (kidding and ribbing) from bullying and belittling. This accusation is a shameful cross to bear. My heartfelt apologize to all I have offended albeit unknowingly.

I'm gone. Perhaps forever. Being eighty does not permit any far-ranging expectations. There is no doubt in my mind that I will miss all of you a lot more than you'll miss me. After all these years I thought most everyone knew me by now. I can't live without a little humor. I can smell smoke. I think the tar and feathers are about ready. I must hurry and end this). I am grateful that I have met some great friends here on Chatter. I'll not forget you. It has been a joy to have been a part of Chatter. Thank you so much for giving me a bit of daily happiness.

With great respect,
Charlie computer

BTW: Please overlook any mistakes in the above. My eyes are a little wet and I don't see so good right now. It's true. They actually are. This is hard.

Note: I bear neither the PMer or anyone else no hard feelings.

Charlie, I have always enjoyed reading your posts and missed seeing anything that would justify a negative comment from the establishment. Hope you can stick around and change your mind about whatever led you to this decision.

hang in there you will feel different the next day or two. You should know better than anyone else at 80, not to take anything serious. Sounds like you got some good friends here think of them.

Charlie,
Take a few days to think it over.Don't go running off just because of one person.
Your one of our family and should stay around a few more years. At least till you get up to my age.

Charlie,

Don't give up the ship yet!! It's just one torpedo. You make a fine CO of the 41's. I'll go on up to the conning tower and send out some light messages to fellow 41 lovers to bolster you up.

Jim.

BTW 1 - Always enjoy reading your posts.

Charlie,

Although I do not hear the same echo's as you do, it would be a sad place, without your colorful commentary.

Before making a decision you may later regret, take time to ponder your decision. dance

Charlie… take a week off. Your efforts on Facebook are nowhere's near as interesting as here. You don't want to spend time there...

Hope you reconsider. Reading your posts on this forum is one of the things that's helping me get through the days when I'm feeling crappy from my cancer treatment. I love your sense of humor. Anyway-no matter what you do - you'll always have a friend in West Virginia./

Charlie,

I have enjoyed your TIC (tongue in cheek) comments for many miles and the site will not be the same without you.

Hang around and don't let the comments overtake you. I would think if the perpetrator bothers to read this thread he will be having some second thoughts.

You have much more support than he does. We are on your team.

Charlie, Take a step back and reconsider. Us youngins need the wisdom that you 8 decade guys can give us so we can keep the torch going. As to the types that whine, complain and use the word of the year "bullying", they need to look in the mirror.

There are some pretty lofty egos within the VCCA that a lot of folks find put-offish so they don't stick around. I experienced it when I first came to Chat as well as having had some negative feedback from some over time when trying to recruit folks to Chat and the VCCA who experienced the same. It's sad that Charlie let one of the egos get his goat but he's a big boy. Hopefully he'll decide to let it slide off his back and not be a victim since the best way to beat a bully is to treat them as what they are, a lot of hot air.

Your words are well chosen, very descriptive ..... hits the nail on the head. I say that from my own personal experience.

Hopefully Charlie will see your comments and understand there are many more good guys here than bad guys.

Have to agree with most of the above !!

I truly Enjoy Charlie's Colorful Comments, as well as his input, even if off the wall :) Most of the time I get a Great Chuckle out of them, or at least shake my head and move on.

I`ve only been around here a couple years , and by no means any expert in chevy repairs. It`s funny reading all this stuff and not knowing much about the poster except what he posts and his humor, his or her expertise, or non expertise in my case. But Charlie ALWAYS stood out from the pack as a true individual in his wit humor and knowledge when I read his posts. Whats this all about .....Fulton humor ....Ethanol sludge....a love for `41`s ONLY ?? I want to thank you Charlie for making me laugh when things in my life are hardly laughable....thank you for offering me tickets to the NC event a couple years ago .....This curse ranks right up there with the changes the so called people in charge want to make in the club. Charlie leaving sucks ....and changes in the club suck.......still a fan Charlie ....don`t do Facebook ....makes me puke.....long live Charlie!

Agree, long live Charlie. I alway look forward to his posts, when he gets on a subject like Fulton's. My 48 doesn't have one so he couldn't get on me.
