Gene, I will have to disagree on the subject of the solid roof for these panel trucks. There would be a roof panel listed in the parts book whether it was solid or open. I assume you meant to say 1-1/2 ton trucks, as there were no 1 ton trucks in the Chevrolet lineup until 1937 with the model GE. I know of 4 1936 1-1/2 ton panels and they all have open roofs for cloth insert. I suspect the 1/2 ton was the same.

You are correct. I should of read ahead. The 1937 features says the panels have the new turret top. I can't find a pictre of the earlier soft top body exploded.

There is a photo of a '36 panel in the later pages of the old photos thread. In the foreground is a kid against a tree (hide and seek?). Behind is the panel, clearly showing the top insert.

Mike The 36 panel I had is pictured below. When I bought this truck it was missing the back doors. I finally located another panel body with good doors it was a 1935. From 1934-36 all the body are the same except in 36 they used all metal doors but the rears were wood. The 35 had an open top covered with material as did the 36. You can barley see the black top on the photo below. Dale BTW if anyone knows who owns this truck now I would love to talk with them! ![[Linked Image from dale-lynn-james.smugmug.com]](http://dale-lynn-james.smugmug.com/photos/i-JL6mzSp/0/O/i-JL6mzSp.jpg)

In this 1936 photo, [img:center] http://www.buchansbread.com/Trucks.htm[/img] in front of my families bakery, six 1936 1.5 ton panel trucks are visible, four of which have solid roofs, two with fabric roofs. I am looking for an interior photo I have of the cardboard-like material coming off the interior sides...at least what the rats had left...
