1936 engine numbers ran from 5500179 through 6784512. Your engine number indicates the engine was made in about mid-season.
The K indicates it is a 1/2 truck engine.
An early model will have a high roof, late a low roof. The early had a stubby visor above the windshield and all four corners of the windshield are rounded on the low cab.

Genem,

There is also an engine casting date code, just above the casting number. Mine is E-13-6, indicating my block was cast on May 13, 1936. This date will be several weeks ahead of the build date of the truck in most cases. My engine serial number is K6489143, so I suspect your truck was built earlier in the year.

Unfortunately, an earlier owner removed the data plate on the firewall of my FB when a heater was installed, so I have no truck serial number or factory code, although I suspect mine was built in Oakland in April or May of 1936.

Late 1936 have a low roof cab. Windshield frame has round corners and is 12 inches high. Half ton bed length 72". running board tread still has diamond like raised spots. Doors have two hinges. Gas tank under rear of bed with filler through bed side behind fender. Round dash gauges have cream colored faces.
