Does any one have the physical dimensions of a 409 or a link to a source?

It is 1 1/2" longer, 2 1/2" wider and 7/8" lower then a small block. Why?

Because I want to build a model of a 702 and the heads and valve covers look like the 348/409 engines. While the 702 is a y block (60 degrees) I thought I would use model 409's as a base. I just wanted to know how they compare.

The spark plugs are above the valve covers on the top of the head while the 409 has the spark plugs below the valve covers. The width of the intake manifold is significantly larger on the 409.

Don, you might want to check that. The intake is surprisingly wider on the small block. I just checked and I got 9 1/2 on a 2x4 409 intake and the 10 1/4" on a Q=Jet small block intake. The deck width on the 409 is 7" and 5 3/4" on the small block. Nothing scientific just with a tape measure and my eye.
(I checked the decks on some blocks I got laying around the shop, same with the intakes)

I went back and looked at pictures of the 702 and I had never noticed the spark plugs inside the vee. I guess it'll have to be scratch built.

Come to think of it, the valve covers don't look THAT much like those on the 409 either. It was a good idea while it lasted.

If it wasnt for the fuel that would use and the overall length I would think about putting that in my 38.

I imagine they aren't the most economical. I've seen a few rods with these on the web while looking for dimensions. that is why I was asking about the 409, I thought I might use them as a base but they are very different.
