This may seem like an odd question but when curiosity eats at you (especially mine) then I won't rest without an answer. So, I am hoping someone here is familiar (or even owns) one of the few 1957 Chevrolet Hearses? I know the frames were lengthened but I am wondering what other modifications to the chassis was done? Toy cars like Hot Wheels seem to depict the frame having a X-brace like the convertible, added but these can also be an interpretation and not necessarily accurate. Any help would be great to settle this and could possibly be used in my book on vehicle chassis history.

I do know that with the 1957 limousines made by Armbruster/Stageway all they did was add the central cross brace (not an X) like most limos did.

Thanks!
Eric

Having owned many years ago a 56 limo built by Armbruster Stageway the frame was re-enforced by a quarter inch steel plate welded on the bottom the entire length of the frame. I also owned a 56 hearse that was a slightly stretched four door sedan but can't remember who built it.Wonder if they are still around? Ed Bittman VCCA#47508 TA#99 Dade City,fl
