Here we go fellas-I saw the car and was not impressed. Not really "mint condition" despite what the pictures appear to be. Other descriptions shall we say were "enhanced"? The car did not just seem to be that true to the advertising or price. Owner was courteous and answered all my questions, just not all were answered to my liking. I won't bash the car-it just is not for me.

Worst thing about that car is the reserve price. Other than that it looks like an old Chevy that needs a careing owner that is willng to give her a drive every now and then to the Sonic and a good home with a full tank of 87 octane, plenty of cool Zerex and a oil change and lube once in a while

MASTER: Too bad the description was 'enhanced.' Unfortunately that often seems to be the case. And, it makes Gene's comment yesterday about being 'amazed' that a car was actually as described all the more amazing!!
Your experience with this '47 seems to add more 'proof' to my feeling it's absolutely necessary to preview in person rather than simply taking the seller's word for it. Too bad that's the case; but most often that sure seems to be the way it is. :(
Too bad it didn't work out. Bill.

Bill, I agree with you 100%. I personnally could not purchase a car other higher-dollar purchase without looking at the item first! You want to know what you are getting for your money.

I agree as well. You must see a car in person before purchasing or you will suffer the consequences!
A friend of mine buys cars on eBay all the time, and usually he gets taken to the cleaners because he never personally inspects the car first. Upon arrival, he found several cars not up to his expectations, so he sent them back. On one of the cars he had to get a lawyer to retrieve the $30,000 that he paid for the car because it was misrepresented. And, on another occasion, he had the car two years (it was a 1950 Cadillac in very poor condition...... but he thought it looked great) before he discovered that he never received the title with the car. DUH!! At any rate, when he made a few calls to track down the title be found that the car was stolen! The police immediately confiscated the car and he was out the $14,000 that he laid out to purchase the car on eBay. He later discovered that the eBay seller he purchased the car from turned in a claim with his insurance company that the car was stolen (it wasn't, he had hidden the car and claimed that it was stolen). When the claim was paid he sent the title to his insurance company (J.C. Taylor) and he then listed the car on eBay. After it was sold the seller moved from New York to Florida.
After all of this, my friend still continues to buy cars on eBay, and he still never confirms that the car has a title before he lays down big bids on eBay!

Hum.....I don't think so. I think he believes that real estate is not as good of an investment as purchasing cars on eBay. :( :( :( :(
