If it's for a 29-32 then the main bearings are babbitted. If not reusable they can be re-babbitted, however when thats done the engine will need to be line-bored.

The rods have poured babbitt directly onto the rod forging. The mains have babbitt applied to bearing shells or inserts. Yes they need to be line bored.

Just note the fact that the bearings sold by Kanter are "semi-finished" and will still need to be line bored after installation.

Yes the description for the line boring of the main bearings is in the workshop manuals. Check your crankshaft bearing journals, or have the same machine shop inspect and grind your crank, and then finish the fitted bearings. Some shops wont do 1/2 of the job , they like do both the grinding and line boring for better warranty of the work.

Thanks for all the replies. A friend of mine that works as a machinist on diesel marine engines said he could do the line boring if I got him the new main bearings.
I showed him that section in the repair manual and he said it would be no problem.
Thanks, Larry
