I am restoring my fathers first car, a 1938 Chevrolet Master 2dr sedan. The rear armrest frames are missing. Does anyone know where I can buy a set or get sketches of them? If not does anyone have a name and contact for someone who may have knowledge of them.

Thanks in advance

I think these folks can help you. It wouldn't hurt to contact them. LebaronBonney

The 1937 would probably be different due to changes made in that area. The 1938 and 1939 should be the same. Also the base for the Master Deluxe and Master should work as the only difference is the M.D. had built in ash trays which could be covered over.
This could expand your search.

Mine have been reupholstered, but they have not been installed. I can get pictures of them if that will help you.

I contacted them, they didn't have any information. They referred me to Chevs of the 40s, they said they had not information either.

Thanks for the suggestion

That would really help me, especially if you had pictures of the internal structure.
Thank you

In my opinion you have to call a junk yard to find the parts you need. There are a couple of parts places that may have them but they will be hard to find. Try Old Car Parts at (503) 771-9416, they have had a bunch of original parts I needed for my car.

If your interior is the same as the sedan, the armrest sits on a very dense fiber board that is formed to the shape of the interior. The fiber panel has the rubber armrest that is glued to the upper part of the fiber form. If all you need is the rubber armrest part, you could cut that from a dense foam.

The fiber panel also has a piece of wood in the shape of an elongated pyramid that is nailed to the rearward part of the panel and screwed to the body at the apex. There are several pieces of hard cardboard that are used to form edges for the interior cloth that covers the fiber form and arm rest. There is a separate upper fabric panel between the top of the arm rest and the underside of the window. There was a tar covered cloth that protected the fiber form and interior cloth from any leaks around the window. The fiber form is held in place by metal tabs at the bottom of the wall. This is a short video I took when I pulled mine out, it may help explain how this fits together.

Thanks Brian,
Your video was helpful, it gives me a general idea of the construction.
One difference is my car is a 2 door so it will be a little different but thanks for the help.

Best regards,

I also have an original condition 1946 Chev 1/2 ton pickup that I drive around town on errands, etc.

Thanks for your suggestion.
