I'm not scared I just like the icon.
I bought a 1949 Styleline with a disassembled 216. I bought a 1958 235 that runs but needs rebuilding. I've noticed most the differences but I am sure there are a few I have not. I have received what I think is good advice on most of those issues so far such as 12volt conversion, motor mounts, Starter, and much advice on the 3.55 ring and pinion conversion.
I still have a couple of questions one being the carb linkage. The mounting points are in different places. Any thoughts? I also noticed that the length of the water pump shaft is greater and I have concerns about radiator clearance. Oh yeah I need a radiator. Would like a stock one to get re-cored.

Here is a good article from Patrick Dykes, of Patricks Antique Cars and Truck .... regarding the 216 to 235 conversion. Click, then read and continue to scroll down. Article is lengthy. http://www.patricksantiquecars.com/articles.html

Forget the 12V conversion. 12volt conversion not necessary, with a good operating 6 volt system and HEAVY battery cables. Mine is a 235 conversion, utilizing the 6 volt system.

Mine too. I agree. My 51 screams with her 54 235 motor. Get a battery tender and leave it hooked up in the garage.

I own TWO 1951 Chevys. Both are inliners. One is 6 volt, the other is 12 volt. Both have Battery Tenders. Both start, each time, every time.
