Under normal circumstances no. If you have a stock engine you don't need leaded gas or hardened seats.

The lead additive is a complete rip-ff. Contains no lead. In 1937 regular grade gas did not even contain lead.

A dose of top oil never hurt and helps to lube the gas-tank also.

It depends on what is available in your area. In this part of Wisconsin all grades have ethanol (which has caused me NO problems).....In some parts of Wis. you can get non-ethanol premium and if that is what you prefer go for it, especially for winter storage the non-ethanol is prefered.

The last few years I have put SeaFoam in my last tank of regular gasoline in my '41 Coupe. It not only helps with moisture during storage, it runs better and really helps on start up in the Spring.

Seafoam contains a lot of alcahol so if I were to add something it would be a strong dose of Marvel Mystery Oil. My ethanol gas already has enough alcahol.

howdy all
i don't know what lead addative has in it but my brother tried for about 2 years to get his 1957 case 300 tractor to run right. he replaced everything twice point, plugs wires ,carburator. finally one day he tried the lead addative and it pured like a kitten.before that it wouldn't even idle right. it was like flipping a light switch and ran perfect.

I can gaurantee you it was not the lead additive as most were just kerosene.

'41 Master Deluxe. I have found great success, not only my small engines, ie. snow thrower, grass mower, weed trimmer etc, but in my 2000 Camaro SS/SLP, but MOST recently, my '41 Master Deluxe, all stock. I get my gasoline in East Troy, Wisconsin. Regular, unleaded, ethanol free gasoline. I use the same for my Camaro, just the high octane to avoid pinging. I use, too, Sta-Bil as the gasoline keepin' er fresh stabilizer. When I use this combination in my Camaro for winter storage, full tank, the car starts right up in spring, about four months.
The previous owner always used the lead additive. Too many people say this additive is useless, and early gasolines never had lead in it anyway?.

Yes, lead is a waste...A buddy gave me some...I threw it in just to empty the bottle...I toss in a little 2-stroke oil mainly to lube the tank from rust...

I have used the ethanol gas from the local pumps for years with no additives and had no problems. T You will find your 1941 will not start right up in spring because the gas will have evaporated from the carburetor. Your Camaro will not have this little problem as the fuel pump is right in the gas tank.. For my small engines I either run them dry in fall or get the Road Ranger non-ethanol from East Troy in the later part of the season.

gene: i'm confused. i would have guessed the camaro starts right up in the spring because it has tuned port fuel injection and the nozzles aren't exposed to the atmosphere like a carb. regards, mike

A fuel injected engine will have higher pressure to the injectors almost instantly with no bowl to fill. Even with a carburetor car and a low pressure eletric pump at the rear there will be a little lag before a long no start condition. Really long with a mechanical fuel pump.
