In the middle of a drive, my clutch pedal stopped returning fully. Upon inspection when I got home, no surprise, there is no clutch return spring, it obviously failed and the 2 pieces fell off on the drive. I can see where the spring must have attached to the rod (mine is offset with a chain linkage) but not where the other end is fixed, unless it is with the brake return spring. I can easily rig something, but every detail counts, so if someone could offer advice, I would appreciate it.

From the picture in the Engineering manual the clutch spring angles off to the left slightly and looks like it hooks to something next to the frame rail. The spring is 4 11/16" long with 43 coils according to the parts book, fit 1937-1939 cars

Thanks Gene, I'll take a look. The Engineering manual doesn't by any chance show its location relative to the brake spring, does it?

The picture isn't too good but it is to the clutch pedal side of the brk. spring and as it goes forward heads towards the frame.

Thanks but I am coming up empty. Anyone with a 37 who has a snapshot of that area, I would really appreciate it.

A closer look at the rather poor picture looks as if it would hook onto the area where the cross member is attached to the frame. Probably a small hole in the rear side of the cross member next to the frame rail.

Cars might be different but the trucks have a bracket that bolts to the bellhousing where the clutch and brake return springs attach.

I removed mine in order to get to a few parts, and noticed that mine is a bit weak, so I looked at the two suppliers, most only have springs for the trucks...wondering if I need to get a universal spring and cut it to fit? Anyone done that?

Thanks Dave, that was perfect. Judging by the accumulated oily dirt, the last spring was not attached to that little gem, but it's right where you pointed me to. I appreciate it, little victories are still victories.
