The local Farm and Fleet store has the group 1 6 volt battery on sale for less than $50.00. I wish I could use one right now. I have used their batteries for the last 40 years with good luck. Usually replace the batteries evry 6 years to to be safe. Never charge them over winter and they always have enough juice left in them in Spring to crank the engine over long enough to get gas up to the carburetor.

I sure can use one now. No Farm and Fleet here in SoCal. Best I have seen out of Interstate, O'Reilly, and Pep Boys in terms of price/performance is the Super Start at O'reilly's (640 CCA, 800 CA) for $90.00. The others are $100.00 on up to $150.00

Yes, Farm amd Fleet is a upper midwest outlet. Try a farm type store out in the sticks like Tractor Supply.

I bought a 6 volt battery from Bi-Mart and it was $62. The battery worked great!

Thanks guys.
Yeah the 6V Group 1 Exide at Tractor Supply (50 mile round trip) is $80 rated at 625 CCA and 750 CA.

(No Bi-Mart around here)

Lots of "resellers" get their batteries from major suppliers and have them private labeled. Tractor Supply used to do that, now are just selling the Exide manufactured brand. Sometimes knowing the actual manufacturer helps, at least in the confidence dept.

And I thought I heard that there are really only 4 main actual manufacturers of batteries at least in this country.

I have used Interstate batteries for some time now in all my vehicles. I run a 6-volt one in the 41 coupe. It performs really well.

Charlie, I don't have a road diesel, I run a Chevy gas pickup and don't own any trucks. The tractor fuel is red and you best not get caught running it in an over the road vehicle.
