Does the grille on a '37 car install into the nosepiece from the front or rear?

In describing the new grille for 1938 it states that removal of the grille (in 1938) is more simple and now can be replaced with out removing the radiator shell (as in 1937).

Hello 37ryan,

I had removed the nose of my '37 to do engine and frame work. Decided to try and refurbish the grill. Had to remove the radiator to access the tabs that hold the grill in place along with a few very small screws that hold the center strip in. after all that the grill lifts out...damn it.......it's been so long I'll have to double check which way it lifts it out..........I hope this sorta helps ?!

I had a 37 years ago and it was plain that somewhere in the past someone had cut out the top panel of the grill shell to remove either the grill or the radiator then welded the panel back in place...

nice weld job and some paint... not many would have even noticed.

what kind of refurbishing did you do to your grille. I have some stone dings and bent verticals each side of the crank hole ( whats new) and was wondering how to straighten them out.

Hi 37 Ryan, I too had bent verticals on my grill. What I did was get an old pair of vice grips and weld two pieces of 3/16" flat stock, one on each jaw, about 3-4" long. Then you just pinch the verticals straight, of course this only works well if the grill is out of the car so you can get behind the verticals to get the vice grips on them, or if you have really long arms to reach up, after you take the chin pan out. Either way is a pain!! Hope this helps a little.
