I have a NOS u-joint but I will have to transfer the speedometer gear from my old u-joint to the new one. I assume it is just pressed on but I have been unsuccessful so far in removing it. I have tried a 2 jaw puller and used a torch to heat it. No luck. Any suggestions? I am a little afraid of damaging it. Gene

Couple of months ago I ran into that with my '36 Car. I finally went to the machine shop to have it done.

There is a bearing/gear puller that bolts together and has a taper on the inside. It works well in pulling stuff without much room on the back side. I actually have three different sizes and only occasionally need one. But when I do they are real handy.
