What does the wiper control switch, attached to the approx 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" , 90 degree 1/16" metal arm serve as a purpose, or more specific, 90 degree metal rod that the plastic ivory colored switch is attached to...do? I cannot find any reference to it in my 1941 Chevy repair manual, body by Fisher repair manual or any Internet references about it. I removed the ivory colored switch from the top of the dash, then fished my arm up inside the dash, only to have this 90 degree metal thing fall into my hand. Any idea would be of great help. I did read that it controls the air flow to the wiper motor, but how, I am not sure of. Again, any assistance would be great.

I don't have a pic but if it's the same as my '38 it manually activates the on/off lever on the wiper motor.

Correct, it moves the U-shaped lever in the front of the motor assembly shown on this diagram: Windshield Wipers

p.s. I have a new wiper motor on the shelf, can take a pic if needed....
