I had my generator rebuilt by a motor shop. They demonstrated to me that the lowest output is 9VDC. They suggested I install a potentiometer in series to lower the DC output to prevent overcharging the battery. I am looking at some various ideas such as inline diodes and 20k ohm resistor. Any other ideas? Any recommendations on use and care for this rebuilt 6VDC generator?

Did they adjust the third brush on the generator to the lowest output? Also, how many amps is the generator output?

I highly recommend the voltage regulator from James Peterson and also the diode type cutout from Filling Station. They will make your generator output perfect. Contact James at: jpetersonbend@yahoo.com

Yeah that is odd, since it was designed to work with and charge a 6v system. Seems like that would FRY a 6v battery pretty quick.

I am in the process of setting and checking my Generator...
