I could not believe the new ad about anti-freeze I saw the other day. In order to 'save time' they now sell PRE-MIXED anti-freeze.  Tell me people aren't this helpless today.

And that is a good way to sell de-ionized or distilled water for better than $2 a gallon?....... No thanks!! I will continue to mix my own!!!! and I buy distilled water for $.74 per gallon
It does probably work better as a corrosion inhibitor than tap or windmill water.
An after thought...... Maybe we could get the fellow bending the wood to save some Clam scented water for his radiator!

I worked for many years in the antifreeze/coolant development area for one of the world's largest manufacturers. Despite extensive documentation about the quality of tap water and all the bad (for the radiator) stuff in it nearly everyone felt that if it was good enough to drink then it was good enough for any cooling system. We supplied pre-mixed coolants for many large customers who were believers but didn't mind paying a lot more for water from us than they could have bought it locally.
We also never convinced people that it was economically justified to replace the antifreeze/coolant every two years. Factory fill was good for a couple of years longer.
While we are at it. Please replace your hydraulic brake fluid every two years or so. This is particularly critical for vehicles that are not driven frequently or do not have disc brakes. You will eliminate corrosion causing water. The water will migrate past the cylinder seals and through the rubber hoses at the molecular level. It is much more effective long term than silicone fluid (we helped develop it too) save the brake system in our old Chevys.

Chipper, a good idea! I may need for you to help me find the master cylinder on the '28 I haven't found it yet, but I did change the engine oil and it only took 3 QTS. to bring it up to the full mark. Is that usual?
