To be more clear, can bands be welded in and ground down smooth to replace the metal lost from turning the drums.Does anyone do this ?

Drums can be "metal sprayed" possibly.

Welding on the drums will cause more distortion than the heat that caused the warping in the first place. AND, welding will cause unknown amounts of embrittlement that would seriously threaten the integrity of the steel.

Metalizing spray is a very thin electrolytic application that will not 're-build' the thickness.

Be darn careful messing with drums!

Happy Motoring!

Had one of my brake drums metal sprayed and it came out great. No issues whatsoever.

You might check with some of the "A" owners as I believe that is a common process for them. Don't know of anyone who has done it on a Chevy.
