Need a little info as to what to do look for on my front end and why I when I go over a bump the front end wants to dance all over the road most times. Front end was rebuilt about 5 years ago but only maybe 500 miles on car since. it acts like a newer car with bad front shocks. Appreciate any advice.

If the shocks are bad or low on fluid do this test. Bounce the front end up and down via the front bumper. It should not continue to bounce once you stop. If it continues to bounce first fill the shocks with hydraulic jack oil. Should solve the problem. If they are leaking it may be necessary to fill evry year. If leak is excessive will be necessary to replace. Or is there play in the steering?

I did the bounce test and after I let go it goes up and down 2-3 times and stops. Is that normal? And there is play in the wheel which has been there for some time. Appreciate your suggestions. Rich S.

Lets just begin with the shocks. First fill the shocks and see if they hold fluid. The is a small filler plug on top of the shock, remove and fill, bounce the front end to expell any air and top off again. If they are worn out you will see fluid leaking out where the big arm attaches to the shock. May take a few days. The directions are all in the shop manual. At this point if you do not have a manual I will suggest you purchase a shop AND owners manual from ....www.fillingstation.com.

Hi Rich, We have discussed suspension issues several times in old posts. Try doing an Advance Search of our old posts using one word like "suspension' or "steering." If you have a problem doing one let us know and we can help you with the process. Here is a series of posts that you may find helpful, but there is lots more where these came from. We discuss some aspect of your topic about every 3 or 4 months. Good luck, Mike Too much play in steering

I'm pretty sure I put brake fluid in mine when I first got it cause it bounced like crazy. After a couple of days it settled down and haven't had any problems since... I guess the brake fluid could have caused the seals to swell thus no leaky leaky. But now they worky worky..
