I noticed 2 levers on the "tree" of a 47 Im going to buy. I figure the upper one is the turn signal. Any one know what the lower one is for?
they are both on the right side of the steering wheel

The only thing that should be on the RIGHT side of the steering column is the transmission shifter.

The one exception would be the control arm for the special steering column control for the special radio.

The direction switch should be on the LEFT side of the column.

Any possibility of a picture so we can make positive identification?

I cant seem to post a pic, cant remember how I got the the pic of my chevelle on here either; old age.
thank you

The shaft sticking out on the right side is the steering column control for the 1946-48 special radio. Turning the knob top toward the dash turned the radio on and served as the volume control. If you pushed the knob toward the steering column it will cycle 5 pre-tuned stations.

For a comprehensive report on the Model 985986 see the RADIO HOUR in the G&D May 1985.

If you need radio work or a radio send me a PM.

But note that the Super Deluxe Radio shown in the pic has no buttons because the steering lever has the controls on it as stated above.

The turn signal would never be placed on the right...I have one (on the left), but prefer to use my arm...More "period" style...I guess...

Younger people now probably don't know what the hand signals mean.
