First time poster, and I have a question...and it's a longshot, probably. I bought a 1963 Impala SS Convertible from the estate of two of my best friends--will be selling it soon since I don't have the resources to restore it--but in the paperwork for it was the bill of sale for my friend's mother's car, a 1961 Chev. Wanted to know if there was a registry of surviving Chevs to send the ID# to on the thin chance that it still exists...I'd gladly give it to the current owner if he/she can be found; I assume they'd want it. Any suggestions, or should I just toss it out? Many thanks.

That would be a great resource, if it existed... There are a few car registries around, for 1913-1920ish Chevrolets, and one for ALL Corvettes.
But, as far as I know, the 1960's are not tracked by anyone.
You might post the VIN here and let it simmer for a few months, just to see if someone trips across it. Also, it's possible that someone might want to offer you some "dollars" for it later on....
Also, you can frame it and then double the price!!! ha ha... sorry.
Good luck. Welcome to Chat.

Dear Bill: Many thanks for the info...I knew it was a long shot. But when you say "frame it and double the price", I'm assuming you mean my price for the bill of sale (free to the owner) rather than the car (which I don't have). Frankly, I could USE twice that sale price, even in today's versus 1961 dollars. Then it was $3116 with options. Couldn't almost all of us use a spare $6232? Now...another Q. Where on the site would be the best place to post the ID# so that someone might see it? Thanks again. rpmh

rpmhart Welcome to Chatter. Nice to hear another car is still surviving even if it is out of circulation. I understand your situation in regards the 63 and only hope it goes to a restorer. The best chance of finding the current owner of the 61 (if they are on Chatter) will be in the appropriate year group a little further down the chat main page. Tony
1938 1/2 ton Hope to drive it before I retire

Yeh, I'd have to agree. That's probably a good place to start - in the proper "year group" forum. I could see where this could expand to become a new feature (service?) on the forum. Hummmm....

Have you tried searching DMV records? The car might still be registered.
Another idea is to search via google on the VIN or license plate number and see what comes up.
Cheers, Dean
