I hope this is where I can find some info. I have a 1942 Spec.
Del. 2 Dr sedan that is all original and pretty much a barn find.
My question is the color of the engine. Mine is red with a black
valve cover, I think the engine should be Grey. Does anyone know?
Also, I've seen pictures of '42s with squarish fog lights. Does
anyone know of any NOS or reproductions of these?

Welcome to Chevy Chatter!!! You picked the right place to get answers about your '42 Chevy.

And, if you join the VCCA, you will gain access to additional "members only" Forums here on Chat and an absolutely great magazine called the G&D (Generator and Distributor). So think about that!!!

Now for your questions.......

The engine color should be a dark gray. It is readily available from the Filling Station....

https://www.fillingstation.com/catalog/flippingbook/index.html#359/z

....top of the page under "Engine Enamel".

As far as the fog lights you mention, I can't really help.....but look through the Filling Station catalog and you just might find some repros that are close.

Any future questions you have might get more attention if you post them in the 1937-1942 Forum a little further down the page.

Have fun with your restoration and let's see some pictures!!!!

That fog light was used on 1942's only. The 1941 had a "square" fog light also but it was not the same. Neither are being reproduced.
One way to ID a 1942 is the back of the housing was painted gray.

I may have two of those lights you need. They were donated to our organization, we rehab eagles, owls, in central Oregon. I can send you pictures.
