Just wondering what you can tell me about this Camero based on the VIN 124379L530546

I might add that the tag also was void of any number for color (dealer choice of paint?) of car so now it is red.

First of all it an Camaro. It's a early 1969 V-8 sports coupe built in Los Angeles. That tag is on the dash behind the w/s. There is another tag on the firewall above the master cyl. with the other information you requested...Joe

Where it says pnt, is there dashes?

This car has all of the indications that it was an original Z28, but I do not have an original build sheet or protect-o-plate. My understanding, which may be wrong, is that there is nothing on the two identification plates that would indicate Z28. I am hoping there is some GM record paired with the VIN that may document Z28. There is only the VIN on the plate behind the windshield. The plate on the firewall does have - - (dashes) by PNT. There also appears by "body" ST 6912437 VN 335606

Van Nuys never did mark their cars on the cowl tags like Norwood. There are more "Z/28" out there today then were ever built. Do you have the "born with" engine? There are several things to look for to "possibly" identify the car as a real z. What does it have for brakes, number of leaf springs, transmission, a/c or not. Can you read the tags on the front springs? It's a late car, like June 1969. What is the date code on the tag? The dashes at pnt indicate the car was painted a color that was not one of the regular colors for that year or that make...Joe

Joe, The car has all the items you mention as well as the items that Dammann mentions in his book "75 Years of Chevrolet" (Page 362). The car has been recently restored (Frame off) in Red. There is not doubt that it is a Z28. I guess the question I have is if I take it to a Judged VCCA event without the Protect O plate or any documentation will I loose points. Also, is there any way to get this documentation replaced?

You would not need the Protecto-plate...and as long as there is nothing that "looks" incorrect you should not need any documentation.
